MediaTek to Acquire Coresonic AB for Approximately US$33 Million

MediaTek announced on April 10, 2012 that the company is going to acquire Coresonic AB for NT$1 billion (US$33.9 million; US$1=NT$29.5), according to a report by the Commercial Times of Taiwan. Coresonic AB is a provider of DPS (Digital Signal Processor) technology in Sweden. After the acquisition is finalized, Coresonic AB is expected to become a wholly-owned subsidiary of MediaTek in Europe. It is reported that MediaTek's move is aimed at strengthening its 4G technology and improving efficiency and flexibility of its product lines.
